BIOMA active pool filter glass is a state-of-the-art filter media specifically designed for water filtration in pools and spas of all sizes.

It is compatible with all sand filters on the market, not compatible with cartridge or diatomaceous earth filters. Thanks to its granulometry between 0.6mm-0.8mm, it allows to replace the sand filter bed without changing any component, and allowing a clearer water with less use of chemicals, making the BIOMA Hi-Tech glass filter media the perfect filter media for any type of user, whether it is above ground pools, residential, spa or public pool.

Thanks to its sterile surface and its active formulation, it offers high resistance to biofilm and high filtration capacity, which translates into cleaner water, less algae, less use of chemicals and significant water savings by reducing the frequency of sand backwashing.

Bioma is made from high purity recycled virgin glass, with a Bureau Veritas certified quality level of at least 99.999%.

It is especially suitable for pools prone to algae, heated pools, spas, high performance pools and, in general, any pool that has a significant organic load such as hotels, campsites, sports centers, gyms, town halls, etc., where a filter media resistant to algae and bacteria is required.

One of the advantages of BIOMA activated glass is that it only requires a single grain size, unlike other filter media that require multiple layers of different grains. This facilitates its use and reuse in case it is necessary to remove it for any reason, such as damage to the filter or replacement of nozzles.

Thanks to a careful selection of the particle size curve and a patented glass surface treatment technology, biofilm formation is prevented, microchannels are kept open and the safe handling of filtered particles is guaranteed.

Characteristics-Advantages of BIOMA active filtering glass.

1. Antibiofilm: Traditional filter media, especially sand, are susceptible to generating algal and bacterial biofilm as they are used for filtration. BIOMA filter glass has the ability to resist the generation of biofilm on its surface. In a study conducted by the independent laboratory Bioexam, four filtration systems were compared, with Bioma being the one that best resisted the colonization of bacteria on its surface.

2. A single granulometry. Thanks to the high level of calibration to which it is subjected in its manufacturing and packaging process, Bioma glass can work with a single granulometry. Its thickness is a minimum of 0.6mm and an average of 0.8mm, which guarantees an excellent level of filtration of all types of particles. Bioma offers the best granulometry in filter glass.

3. Anti compaction. Thanks to its granulometric curve, the Bioma has less possibilities of compaction, one of the most common problems in filter beds.

4. Less use of chemicals. Bioma allows to reduce the use of chlorine and shock treatments by up to 50% thanks to its exceptional filtration quality. Clearer water requires less use of chemicals.

5. Less chloramines. The filtration with Bioma filtering glass allows the pool to generate lower levels of chloramines in the water. This translates into less chlorine odor and reduced eye and mucous membrane irritation.

6. The best filtration quality. The IFTS, a prestigious independent institute, certified that the BIOMA is able to retain almost 99.64% of all particles between 10 and 15 microns.

How much Bioma should I add to my filter?

Biomass is 20% denser than sand, so to replace sand with biomass filter glass, we must add 80% of the sand load for which the pool filter is designed. It is one of the options on the market with the best filtering glass granulometry.

A simple rule of thumb would be that for every 25kg bag of sand that you would normally add to the filter, you should add a 20kg bag of BIOMA.

Why choose BIOMA filter glass for my pool instead of other filter media?

BIOMA Active Filter Glass stands out for its antibiofilm capacity, resistance to compaction, and a unique granulometry that facilitates its use. In addition, it reduces the use of chemicals by up to 50%, provides exceptional filtration and is certified by Bureau Veritas with a purity level of over 99.999%.
How much BIOMA filter glass should I add to my filter?

BIOMA is 20% denser than sand, so it is recommended to add 80% of the sand load designed for your pool filter when switching to BIOMA filter glass. This guarantees optimum performance and excellent filtration granulometry.
What are the environmental and economic benefits of choosing BIOMA Active Filter Glass?

BIOMA not only offers high quality filtration, but is also reusable, durable and saves water, energy and chemicals. Its MC² Activation Technology® makes it ideal for prolonged use, providing long-term economic and environmental benefits.
What is the best filtering load for swimming pools? Can sand and glass be mixed?

It is not recommended, since it affects the retention capacity of the filtering glass, and the sand could be a contaminating medium for the glass, generating biofilm.
