The Redox Kit for Hayward Salt Chlorinators is a set of accessories specifically designed to improve the performance of Hayward, Sugar Valley and Kripsol salt chlorinators by automatically controlling the production of disinfectant based on the oxidizing capacity of the pool water, allowing the production of chlorine according to the needs of the water.
This kit provides the elements to measure the redox potential (ORP) and regulate the production of disinfectant automatically, decreasing or increasing it according to the needs, ensuring an adequate control of disinfection and water quality in salt chlorination pools.
By adapting the chlorine production to the needs of the pool, the Hayward redox kit allows to extend the life of the salt chlorinator cell, as well as to maintain the water in balance, without excess or lack of disinfectant.
This redox kit is compatible only with salt chlorinators manufactured by Hayward and that have, as standard, the option to implement the redox control. If you have any doubts about compatibility, please contact us without obligation.

- Sleeve for ORP probe holder and probe placement in the pipeline: The sleeve allows secure and firm installation of the ORP probe in the chlorinator piping, ensuring an accurate reading of the potential Redox at all times.
- ORP probe with special gold tip for salt chlorination: The probe included in the kit is equipped with a gold tip specially designed to resist corrosion caused by salt chlorination. This probe measures the potential Redox of the water and provides crucial data for chlorinator control. It has a useful life of approximately 6 months to 2 years, so periodic calibration is recommended to extend its useful life.
- Probe Holder: The Probe Holder is the holder where the ORP probe is placed to keep it in its optimal position in the pool and ensure an accurate and constant measurement. Installation at a 90º angle to the pipe is recommended. If possible, installation on a probe holder panel is recommended to improve the quality accuracy (panel not included).
- Calibration solution 468 mV: This solution is used to calibrate the ORP probe, ensuring that the measured values are accurate and reliable. Periodic calibration is essential to obtain accurate readings and maintain proper operation of the salt chlorinator.
- Neutral solution canister for cleaning: The neutral solution is used to clean the ORP probe, removing any residue or build-up that may affect its performance. Regular cleaning ensures accurate measurements and prolongs the lifetime of the probe.
- Hayward Aquarite/Hidrolife Salt Chlorinator ORP Chip: The ORP chip is an indispensable part of the Hayward Aquarite salt chlorinator, responsible for interpreting the ORP probe readings and adjusting chlorine production accordingly. This chip activates the operation of the chlorinator’s electronic board for the redox function.
What is redox and how does it relate to free chlorine? How can redox help me improve my pool water quality?
The Redox (also known as ORP – Oxidation Reduction Potential) is a measure of the oxidizing power of water, expressed in millivolts (mV). Indicates the ability of water to destroy organic contaminants, bacteria and microorganisms by oxidation.
The redox is an “indirect” measurement of the level of chlorine in the pool water. Each redox point corresponds to an estimated value of free chlorine in the water.
For example: in a pool with a pH level of 7.2, the free chlorine point at 2ppm would correspond to approximately 765mV redox level.
| Free chlorine (ppm) | pH 7.0 | pH 7.2 | pH 7.5 | pH 7.7 | pH 8.0 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 | 735 mV | 720 mV | 695 mV | 682 mV | 668 mV |
| 1.0 | 760 mV | 743 mV | 716 mV | 703 mV | 689 mV |
| 1.5 | 772 mV | 755 mV | 731 mV | 716 mV | 702 mV |
| 2.0 | 780 mV | 765 mV | 740 mV | 725 mV | 712 mV |
| 2.5 | 788 mV | 772 mV | 746 mV | 732 mV | 718 mV |
| 3.0 | 794 mV | 778 mV | 753 mV | 739 mV | 724 mV |
| 3.5 | 799 mV | 783 mV | 758 mV | 744 mV | 729 mV |
| 4.0 | 803 mV | 787 mV | 762 mV | 748 mV | 733 mV |
* Adequate levels of free chlorine should be between 1 and 2 ppm, so it is always recommended to take as a reference a value of 1.5 ppm or 2 ppm to avoid an excessive drop in the level of free chlorine during the influx of bathers.
The Hayward redox kit, specifically designed for Hayward chlorinators, allows you to set a redox level at which the chlorinator stops production, since it is at the correct level of disinfectant in the water.
A Redox control kit automatically measures and regulates this parameter, ensuring constant water quality without overdosing chemicals and optimizing the action of the chlorine or saline system.
