Hayward AquaRite Flo Advanced Low Salt chlorine generator

The Hayward AquaRite Flo Advanced LS is an advanced system for comprehensive pool treatment and management that operates at a significantly lower salt concentration than a conventional salt chlorinator.

Its technology combines Salt Electrolysis with the hydrolysis of water to generate sodium hypochlorite and highly reactive oxidizing species. This treatment disinfects the water, combats microorganisms, and oxidizes the organic matter present in the pool, using as little as 1.5 g/L of salt.

The Aquarite Flo Advanced LS also allows for centralized control of the filtration pump and pool lighting and, with the appropriate optional accessories, control of pH, Redox potential, and temperature, as well as remote management of the system.

Only 1.5 grams of salt per liter

The Low Salt version requires a minimum salt concentration of approximately 1.5 g/L, compared to the 3 g/L required by the standard version of the Aquarite Flo Advanced.

This lower concentration reduces the amount of salt dissolved in the pool, resulting in water that feels gentler and has a virtually imperceptible salty taste.

A concentration of 1.5 g/L is roughly equivalent to 1.5 kg of salt per cubic meter of water. Before adding salt, you should always measure the existing concentration in the pool.

What is hydrolysis, and how does it improve water quality?

Hydrolysis is an electrochemical process in which the energy applied to the cell triggers reactions in water molecules and generates highly reactive oxidizing species. In the AquaRite Flo Advanced LS, this process works in conjunction with salt electrolysis.

Electrolysis converts the chloride ions present in the water into sodium hypochlorite, which provides stable residual disinfection. At the same time, hydrolysis promotes the formation of free radicals and other very short-lived oxidizing species.

Among these species, the hydroxyl radical •OH stands out, along with other reactive oxygen and chlorine species. Due to their high oxidizing capacity, they act on bacteria, viruses, microorganisms, and organic compounds present in water.

These oxidizing agents react quickly near the cell and complement the action of chlorine. In this way, they help reduce the organic load, improve water clarity, and promote more thorough disinfection using a very low salt concentration.

The oxygen and hydrogen radicals generated by hydrolysis disinfect areas that chlorine cannot reach, resulting in a cleaner pool free of chlorine-resistant pathogens.

Two Aquarite Flo Advanced Low Salt models

Model Chlorine production Minimum salinity
AQR-FLO-AD16LS – 1LS 15 g/h (referred to as 16 g/h because it produces 15 g/h of chlorine, with the remainder being oxygen and hydrogen radicals) From 1.5 g/L
AQR-FLO-AD33LS – 2LS 30 g/h (referred to as 33 g/h because it produces 30 g/h of chlorine, with the remainder being oxygen and hydrogen radicals) From 1.5 g/L

The model should be selected based on the pool’s volume, water temperature, number of swimmers, filtration hours, and sun exposure.

Centralized Pool Control

The Aquarite Flo Advanced LS goes beyond automatic chlorine production. Its control panel allows for centralized operation of the pool’s main equipment and coordinates disinfection with the filtration cycles.

You can program the filtration pump’s operating schedule using the unit’s dry contact output. To control a fixed-speed pump, an external relay or contactor must be installed that is rated for the pump’s power.

It also features connections for controlling compatible variable speed pool pumps and coordinating their different operating speeds.

Power supply for LED lighting up to 50 W

The control box includes a 12 V AC power supply for LED projectors with a maximum total power of 50 W. This eliminates the need to install a separate lighting transformer when the connected lights do not exceed this power rating.

You can program the on and off times for your pool lighting directly from the Aquarite Flo Advanced LS unit.

The total power of all connected projectors must be calculated collectively and must not exceed the 50 W capacity of the equipment.

The pH pump is not working; an AL3 error code appears. What’s going on?

The Aquarite Flo Advanced has a pH reducer overdosing control feature. When the unit detects that the dosing pump has been running for an extended period, it activates alarm AL3 and stops the pH dosing pump. To restart it, check that the bottle contains product, verify that the pH sensor is in good condition, and, once you have confirmed that the system is functioning properly, press the Back key to exit AL3 mode.
Can the Salt Chlorinator be reset by remotely clearing the AL3 alarm via the app?

No, as a precaution, the AL3 alarm must be reset on-site in front of the device. This way, we can verify in advance that everything is working properly before clearing the alarm.
“Communication error” displayed on the KLX or Aquarite Flo Advanced screen

Generally, the “Communication Error” message on the Kripsol KLX or Aquarite Flo Advanced display is caused by a damaged chlorinator circuit board. Contact us on WhatsApp to find out the best option for replacing it.

What is the difference between the standard Aquarite Flo Advanced and the LS model?

The standard version works at salt concentrations of approximately 3 g/L or higher. The LS version combines electrolysis and hydrolysis and can operate at concentrations as low as 1.5 g/L.
Does the Aquarite Flo Advanced LS work without chlorine?

No. It produces sodium hypochlorite from salt to maintain a residual disinfectant and complements its action with free radicals and other oxidizing species generated during the electrochemical process.
How much salt does a pool need with the Aquarite Flo Advanced LS?

The minimum operating concentration is approximately 1.5 g/L. If the water contained no salt, this would be equivalent to 1.5 kg per cubic meter; however, the existing salinity should always be measured before calculating the amount to be added.
Is automatic pH control included in the equipment?

Not necessarily. pH control requires the corresponding optional kit, which consists of a module, a probe, a dosing pump, and accessories.
Is the WiFi Module included?

No. The WIFI or Ethernet connection must be added using the corresponding optional connectivity module.
Can you power the filtration pump directly?

The device provides a control signal via an unpowered dry contact. For a fixed-speed pump, an external relay or contactor suitable for its power rating must be installed, along with a control box equipped with a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and a circuit breaker to provide power and protect the pump.
Can you provide a power supply directly for the pool lights?

Yes, provided that they are LED projectors compatible with 12 V AC and that the total power of all connected lights does not exceed 50 W.
