Anthracite QP laminated filter with side mount valve

The QP anthracite laminated filter is designed for filtering private swimming pools and combines a durable polyester construction with an anthracite exterior finish and a black top cover. It comes equipped with a six-way side mount valve for convenient filtration, washing, rinsing, recirculation, draining, and shutoff operations.

Its laminated tank offers good mechanical strength and is designed to operate reliably under the typical pressures found in a swimming pool system. The ABS top cover features screw-on fasteners and a pressure gauge to facilitate monitoring of the circuit pressure.

Main features

  • High-strength laminated polyester tank.
  • Anthracite exterior finish with a black top.
  • Particularly suitable for private pools.
  • Six-way side mount valve included.
  • Filtration rate of 50 m³/h/m².
  • ABS cover with locking screws and a pressure gauge.
  • Indoor collection system using strainers.
  • A filter base is included with the models listed in the table.
  • Test pressure: 3.5 kg/cm².
  • Maximum working pressure: 1.6 kg/cm².
  • Typical operating range: between 0.5 and 1.5 kg/cm².
  • Compatible with sand or glass media.

Valve and Strainer System

The Ø400, Ø500, and Ø600 mm models are equipped with eight strainers and a six-way selector valve with 1½” connections. The Ø750 and Ø900 mm models feature sixteen strainers and a six-way valve with 2” connections.

Pool Filter: How to Choose the Right Diameter?

When selecting a model, you should take into account the pool’s volume, the swimming pool filtration pump’s actual flow rate, and the expected filtration time. For the system to function properly, the pump flow rate must not exceed the maximum flow rate recommended for the selected filter.

A filter with a larger diameter allows operation at a lower flow rate, promoting more stable filtration and reducing the frequency of backwashes when the system is properly sized. In addition, effective filtration reduces the need for chemicals, shock treatments, or sand backwashing.

In general, for single-family pools, at PoolComet we recommend a minimum recirculation capacity of 4 hours based on the pool’s water volume. In other words, a pool with a volume of 48 m³ should have a filtration system with a minimum capacity of 12 m³/h.

The filtration system’s capacity must be determined based on the filtration pump’s head and the filter’s capacity, as well as the distance and pressure losses between the filtration equipment and the farthest point of the pool.

Installation and maintenance. Anthracite Filter.

The filter must be installed on a firm, level surface with sufficient space to access the valve, the pressure gauge, the top cover, and the drain system. Before putting it into operation, you must verify that the filter media used corresponds to the amount specified for each diameter.

During use, you should periodically check the pressure indicated by the pressure gauge. When the pressure increases compared to the value recorded with the clean filter, the filter media must be backwashed and then rinsed.

Can I use glass media in an anthracite filter?

Yes. The filter can be filled with silica sand or glass media. The amount of glass required is less than that of sand and is specified for each model in the technical table.
Can sand and glass be mixed?

Each filter media has its own characteristics, so mixing them is not recommended. It could affect the holding capacity of the filter glass and lead to possible clogging or backwashing problems.
Does it include side valve?

Yes. All anthracite filter models come equipped with a six-way side mount valve. The Ø400, Ø500, and Ø600 filters are equipped with a 1½” valve, while the Ø750 and Ø900 models use a 2” valve.
Do all anthracite filter models include a filter base?

No. The filter base is included with the Ø500, Ø600, and Ø900 models. The Ø400 and Ø750 models do not include it.
What is the maximum operating pressure of the anthracite filter?

The maximum working pressure is 1.6 kg/cm². The normal operating range is between 0.5 and 1.5 kg/cm², depending on the system’s specifications.
