Control Panel with Level Probes for CCEI NIVA 3 Expansion Tank
The CCEI NIVA 3 control box is a level control system designed to automate the filling of overflow pools in both public and private infinity pools. Its main function is to maintain an adequate water level in the equalization tank and to protect the filtration pump when the level drops below the safety point.
Using its three SE-1 level probes, the NIVA 3 detects high, low, and reference levels. When the water level drops below the set level, the system automatically activates the 24-volt fill solenoid valve. Once the correct level is restored, the filling process stops automatically.
This type of panel is especially important in overflow pools, where the overflow basin directly affects the operation of the filtration system. By maintaining a stable level, it helps ensure that the pump is always operating with a water load, promotes more consistent circulation, and improves the mixing of treatment products, such as chlorine.
How the NIVA 3 Works
The NIVA 3 uses three probes positioned at different heights. If the water level is above the high level, the filtration system can operate normally, and the filling process remains paused. If the level drops below the low level, the control panel activates the automatic refill and, at the same time, can stop the pump via the pump inhibit output.
This safety shut-off prevents the filtration pump from running dry or with an insufficient water level, reducing the risk of cavitation, air ingress, and malfunctions in the hydraulic system.
Key Features of the NIVA 3 Dashboard
- Automatic level control using 3 SE-1 probes.
- Automatic filling of the expansion tank.
- Protection of the filtration pump against low water levels.
- Pump shutdown output to prevent dry running.
- 24-volt solenoid valve for filling, included with the equipment.
- A strainer is included to protect the solenoid valve from contaminants.
- Electronic timing to prevent false detections caused by water agitation.
- The solenoid valve opens only if the low level persists for 10 seconds.
- The solenoid valve closes when the level stabilizes above the threshold for 5 seconds.
- LED indicators to display operating and fill status.
- Easy connection to CCEI control boxes designed for automatic level control.
Protection Against Water Shortages
One of the most important functions of the NIVA 3 is to protect the pump. When the system detects that the level in the expansion tank is too low, it activates the pump inhibit output to prevent the filtration system from continuing to operate without sufficient water.
This protection is essential in overflow pools, since a drop in the water level in the overflow tank can cause the pump to draw in air, lose performance, or suffer mechanical damage.
Automatic Fill Control
The NIVA 3 control panel sends a 24-volt alternating current to the solenoid valve when the cell housing needs to be refilled. The solenoid valve opens automatically to allow water to flow in and closes when the level returns to the correct range.
To avoid unnecessary maneuvers, the equipment is equipped with safety delays. This ensures that small waves, turbulence, or occasional water movements do not cause the solenoid valve to open and close continuously.
Monitoring and Fault Detection Mode
If the high level is not reached after an extended filling period, the NIVA 3 enters monitoring mode. In this state, the control panel issues a warning via its indicator lights and keeps the pump protection active to prevent damage to the system.
If the problem persists, the system stops filling and maintains the pump lockout for safety reasons. In that case, we recommend checking the probes, the solenoid valve, the strainer, and the water supply.

Installation Notes
The pump-off switch must be connected properly so that the filtration pump stops in the event of a water shortage. The supplied solenoid valve must be installed in the expansion tank’s fill line, along with the included strainer to protect it from contaminants.
Installation must be performed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and in compliance with applicable electrical codes. It is recommended that the connection be performed by qualified personnel.
