In a hydrolysis system applied to swimming pools, an electric current flows through the water and causes electrochemical reactions in the electrodes. As a result, oxidizing species of high disinfectant capacity are generated. This additional disinfection capacity is especially useful in times of high bather load, high water temperature or inadequate balance due to rain or external elements.<\/p>\n<p>In simplified form, the process involves the release of gases (hydrogen at the cathode and oxygen at the anode) and, in parallel, the formation of reactive species such as oxygen radicals\/ions such as ozone (O\u2083), monoatomic oxygen (O\u2081) and hydrogen peroxide (H\u2082O\u2082), as well as one of the most disinfectant elements known, the hydroxyl radical (OH-).<\/p>\n<p>These species contribute to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oxidize dissolved organic matter.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce bacterial load and other microorganisms.<\/li>\n<li>Improve water clarity and reduce unwanted by-products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Low-salinity salt chlorination<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>By adding a small amount of salt to the water (approx. 1-2 g\/L), the unit can generate chlorine by electrolysis at low salinity. This provides a residual level of disinfectant that helps to keep the water continuously protected.<\/p>\n<p>The chlorine generated acts by eliminating microorganisms and oxidizing contaminants. After reacting, it is transformed back into salts, closing the cycle (with occasional replenishment due to water loss, filter washing, etc.).
