Advanced BSV Kit. Automatically controls the production of your BSV Salt Chlorinator via Redox/ORP.

The BSV Advanced ORP Control Kit (redox) helps you to detect the ORP in your pool. This allows the chlorinator to adjust its chlorine production automatically.

Once it detects that the oxidation level drops below the desired threshold, it will start chlorine production. This allows it to maintain adequate chlorine in the pool and extend the life of the chlorinator cell since, when it is not needed, the chlorinator will not produce chlorine.

Includes ORP probe-redox with gold tip, probe holder and 465mV calibration solution.

This kit is valid only for BSV Evo salt chlorination equipment and other chlorinators that incorporate redox measurement as standard in the configuration. It does not include the chip for Hayward equipment. If you doubt if your chlorinator is compatible with this kit, write us by whatsapp and we will guide you.

What is the relationship between redox and free chlorine?

The redox is an indirect chlorine measurement system. That is, it allows us to “estimate” what is the free chlorine in the water. If we have the water temperature data and the pH and redox levels, we can establish the level of free chlorine in the water. The table below allows us to “estimate” the free chlorine in the water from a water temperature of 25ºC, pH and redox.

Example: In the table above, a water temperature of 25ºC, with a pH of 7 and a redox of 825 would give us an estimated free chlorine value of 2ppm in the water.

Does the redox measure the combined chlorine level?

No, with the redox we can only estimate the level of free chlorine in the water. To know the level of combined chlorine we will have to obtain the level of total chlorine and free chlorine. With the formula TOTAL CHLORINE = FREE CHLORINE + COMBINED CHLORINE, we can establish the combined chlorine level by clearing COMBINED CHLORINE = TOTAL CHLORINE – FREE CHLORINE.

Are there other more reliable methods of measuring free chlorine?

Yes, there are more reliable methods such as amperometric probes, potentiostatic or photometric systems, although they are not very common in residential pools due to their cost and the need for technical knowledge. For this reason the redox is the most common method of estimating chlorine in residential pools.
